Kevin J. Ross of Westlake, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2026, at the age of 57. His death was announced by the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a Drug Task Force agent. His passing has brought sadness to his family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers, who remember him for his dedication to public service, his warm personality, and the love he held for the people closest to him.

Kevin devoted 33 years of his life to law enforcement, building a career defined by commitment, experience, and service to his community. He spent much of that career with the Medina County Sheriff’s Office, where he worked in corrections, patrol, and the Detective Bureau before becoming Operations Captain in 2019. After retiring from the Medina County Sheriff’s Office, he continued serving others as an agent with the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force, a role he took great pride in. His colleagues valued the experience and dedication he brought to their work.

Beyond his badge and professional accomplishments, Kevin was a family man who treasured the life he had built with his loved ones. He was the beloved husband of Eileen Ross and a devoted father to Jared, Morgan, Matt, and Grace. He also cherished his grandchildren, Giavanna, Mayla, and Brianna, along with his siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Those closest to him will remember the affection he showed them and the happiness he found in spending time together.

Kevin was known for his infectious smile, fun-loving spirit, and ability to make ordinary moments special. A passionate Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he enjoyed sports, cooking, grilling, and gathering friends and family around good food. He treasured the lifelong friendships he formed with his rugby teammates at Kent State University and valued the camaraderie he shared with fellow officers. Above all, he found joy in quiet moments at home with Eileen and their dog, Winnie. His warmth and welcoming nature made a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.

Friends may pay their respects at McGorray-Hanna Funeral Home in Westlake on Monday, October 19, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Ladislas Church in Westlake, with private interment to follow. The family has suggested memorial contributions to Blue Line Unlimited in his honor. As Kevin’s loved ones and colleagues mourn his unexpected passing, his years of service and the memories he created will remain part of his legacy. He will be remembered not only for the work he did, but for the husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend he was.
